PA Dutch

i'm on the lookout for any fabric with a Pennsylvania Dutch feel to it - here are three of my favorites. the only problem is that i become so in love with them that i can never find a project worthy of that initial cut.
True Up (one of my all time favorite blogs) did a great PA Dutch fabric tribute:

BUSY BEING BORN

here we go -  all lined up and ready for the machine. my old friend used to say - "those who aren't busy being born are busy dying"... i think i'll be "bringing it all back home" with me this afternoon. (are you catching all these dylan references?"
anyway - i'm on the attack - time to restock.

pillows - pillows - pillows

I'm obsessing over pillows these days.
I made these two with the old freezer paper trick - do you know? cut out a design on a sheet of freezer paper and iron it on to fabric. stencil and peel - it's as easy as that (and oh-so fun).

Dick and Jane set

I recently  made this Dick and Jane quilt with matching pillow as a birthday present for my mother in law. (it really is great to have a mother in law who loves hand-made crafts.)

Pillow Talk

I love this rabbit pillow and have every intention of giving it to a friend. I found the fabric at a second hand store and I loved the detail of this drawing.
I added a little orange embroidery on the butterfly for fun.

I made this originally as a seat cushion for my husband's computer chair - but it then transformed into a thicker plusher pillowed version of itself. It's the perfect modern splash my living room needed

Christmas Crafting...

This year I made very simple
tree ornaments to fill in all the empty spaces (and since this is my first tree there were plenty of empty spaces). Two circles of fabric sewn together, stuffed with a little poly-fill with a simple ribbon for hanging. They've worked out great! I've hung them all over - but especially low to the ground so Eli can grab them and put them in his mouth.

Also - check out the tree skirt. Yup, did that too. Soft grey wool fabric with felt snowflakes and red accent dots. I had every intention of making the stockings too (and still may) but so far haven't found the time. I'm also making a  bunch of presents so I'll be posting them soon too.
I'm really having a nice Christmasy Christmas (and Eli smiled with Santa this afternoon).

November 10th

I do feel like I'm starting to finally have the cohesive collection I was hoping for - still lots of Amy Butler fabric. Have I mentioned Spool?  It's a great shop in Philly where I bought a good deal of my fabric.

Infant Tummy Time Mats

First Infant Mats!

Okay well, here they are - my first attempt at Infant Mat making.
My friend Dannie made something similar for me when I had my baby (11 months ago). It was my most useful tool - I took it with me from room to room and laid him down with me wherever we went. Later, when "tummy time" became important we used it for that - and in my house (where every room is hardwood flooring) it turned out to be essential. These Mats are super thick and comfy.

Girrafes

Here's a few of my giraffes - no two are the same...

Welcome to Clothesline. I guess I'll be using this blog to keep you updated on my latest craft projects - so far giraffes and blankets. Actually - not blankets - infant tummy time mats. That's what I think I'll call them (and more importantly market them).  Anyway, right now I've recently signed up for a local craft show that I'm in no position to be showing at - I'll have to spend the next few weeks busting to get enough done to not humiliate myself with a half empty table.  I'll let you know what I come up with...
